Art and culture are part of everyday life in Ivins. At Ivins Inspired, we see them as the shared language that helps people feel connected—to each other, to place, and to the land that surrounds us. Art reminds us that we belong here. It creates moments of beauty, reflection, and conversation, and it gives people something to gather around even when opinions differ. We are deeply grateful to be home to cultural anchors like Kayenta Arts Village and Kayenta Theater, as well as Tuacahn Center for the Arts, whose presence brings world-class creativity into our community.
While the Arts Corridor is guided by the Ivins City Arts Commission, Ivins Inspired works to collaborate with and support them, helping expand the reach of arts and culture across the city. Resident-funded utility box art, murals, performances, and installations highlight local talent while reflecting the values of our community. These projects show how art can bridge divides, soften hard conversations, and bring people together around shared purpose rather than debate.
Art in Ivins is also practical, participatory, and lasting. Projects like the Safety in Art crosswalks improve pedestrian visibility while adding beauty near schools and high-use areas. Public art such as Walk Lightly, a bronze and steel heron by local artist Cheryl Collins, invites quiet reflection. Inspired by Barbara Ward’s words—“We have forgotten how to be good guests, how to walk lightly on the earth as its other creatures do”—the quote is carved directly into the sculpture. The heron, a symbol of balance, patience, and harmony, reflects both the land and the spirit of Ivins. From preserving iconic works like the Whitaker Wind Sculptures to supporting collaborative, resident-driven projects, these efforts come from the heart—simple reminders to slow down, care for one another, and walk a little more lightly together.
