Sharon Gillespie, elected to the Ivins City Council in 2024, brings over 40 years of leadership and business experience, including fiscal and budget management, to her role. Since moving to Ivins six years ago, she has immersed herself in the community, serving as an HOA President and volunteering for various city committees. Sharon and her husband, Tim, chose Ivins as their forever home for its beauty and safety, and they spend their time hiking and sharing Tim’s local photography. Her leadership philosophy is defined by consistency and courage, backed by a commitment to listening to and serving her neighbors.
The vision for Ivins Inspired grew from a desire to expand local volunteerism into something more impactful. Sharon’s primary goal for the organization is to foster connection and contribution across the city’s various neighborhoods. By providing events and service opportunities, she hopes to break down local silos and bring the community together, specifically encouraging cross-participation between areas like Kayenta and city-wide events like Heritage Days. She also champions the neighborhood advisory council, a successful initiative launched to help residents share concerns and solve problems collectively through quarterly meetings.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Ivins Inspired has already achieved significant success, including a major fundraising win for the Arts Commission. Sharon sees the organization's greatest strength in its ability to act as a bridge for the city. Moving forward, she is focused on expanding these efforts by researching new partnerships and programs throughout the county. By continuing to reach out and collaborate, Sharon aims to ensure that Ivins Inspired remains a central resource for unity and community support.
